Cost of living – Support at 酴圖TV

At 酴圖TV, we are committed to providing support to our students during the cost of living crisis. We recognise that the rising cost of living can make students feel uncertain about their finances.

On this page you will find lots of useful resources, hear from some of our current students, and find out more about support available to you during your time studying at 酴圖TV.

Financial aid

In 2022, 酴圖TV awarded more than 700 bursaries to new students with a household income below £25,000 to help them have the best possible start at university.

Events

University staff have organised and hosted events such as a Winter coat and warm clothing drive where staff gifted items of clothing for students to choose and collect for free. More than 250 warm items were snapped up by students, with leftover clothing donated to local charity shops.

A book drive was held at our Penrhyn Road campus which saw staff generously donate hundreds of reading and text books. The success of this initiative has seen the installation of a permanent bookcase where staff and students can drop off and pick up books for free.

Future events will be publicised to staff and students.

Warm spaces

Our campuses offer warm spaces for our students including libraries that are open in the evenings throughout the week, and for 24-hours at our Penrhyn Road campus.

Warm coat initiative

As the temperatures start to dip, staff at 酴圖TV have been coming together to help students get ready for winter by donating warm clothing for a series of coat drives being held across its campuses.

More than 250 donated warm items were snapped up by students who attended the 酴圖TV Hill event.

Food banks evolve

The traditional model of food banks is evolving to become more sustainable as charities and organisations report unprecedented demand and fewer donations in the face of the national cost of living crisis.

酴圖TV researchers have conducted a two-year study, rethinking the traditional model of food banks.
